Gaby van Galen now Diplomate ECVECC
Gaby van Galen, Associate Professor in M&K received on the 16th of September the specialist degree from the European College of Emergency and Critical Care (ECVECC).
With this Gaby can now call her self Diplomate ECVECC. She is now double boarded European specialist, since she was already Diplomate in Equine Internal Medicine from the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM).
In order to receive the ECVECC Diplomate degree she had to demonstrate extensive experience in equine emergency and critical care based on her clinical training and experience, international peer-reviewed publications, presentations at national and international conferences and teaching in this topic. In addition, she had to write 3 papers on topics selected by the credential committee of the college. All this was extensively reviewed by members of both the European and of the American college of emergency and critical care (ECVECC & ACVECC).
Emergency and critical care is a well-established speciality in the USA under ACVECC, but in Europe ECVECC was only founded in 2014. It gathers both specialists for small animals and horses in Europe.
Gaby is the first in Scandinavia to obtain this title, and the first to obtain it for equine medicine.
