Expert Treatment for All Types of Horses

At the University Hospital for Large Animals, you will find a highly skilled and multidisciplinary team of specialists in fields including medicine, surgery, diagnostics and reproduction. With internationally recognised specialists working under one roof, we provide diagnostic evaluation and treatment at the highest professional level - from routine examinations to complex medical cases and advanced surgical procedures.

We welcome horses of all types and backgrounds. Family horses, ponies, broodmares and competition horses are all equally welcome, whether referred by a veterinarian or presented directly by their owner.

When Your Horse Needs More

Some patients come to us for scheduled examinations, lameness evaluations or second opinions. Others are referred for advanced diagnostics, surgery or intensive medical care. Our specialists work closely together across disciplines to ensure the best possible treatment for every horse.

The hospital offers modern facilities for surgery, diagnostic imaging, intensive care and 24-hour staffing throughout the year, enabling us to provide expert care even in emergency situations. The hospitl also has a farrier in house.

All Horses Are Welcome

You do not need a referral to make an appointment with us. We accept both emergency and elective cases, and you are always welcome to contact the hospital if you are unsure how we can best help your horse.

If your horse is acutely ill or injured, it is important to ensure that it is fit for transport before travelling to the hospital. In some cases, an examination by a veterinarian may be required prior to transport in accordance with applicable animal welfare regulations.

Facilities

The Equine hospital has six examination rooms, two operating theatres with 4 padded recovery boxes and 16 boxes located close to the examination and surgical facilities for particularly critical patients. We also have 25 boxes, an isolation section and boxes reserved for outpatients.
